The rink with the best view in London is back on the lawn of the Queen's House: Inigo Jones's white villa behind you, the Thames and Canary Wharf in front, and the whole of Maritime Greenwich's World Heritage Site around you.
Dates and hours
Wednesday 18 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, 11am to 9pm, with the last session at 8pm; the rink rests on Christmas Day. Those are the hours of Tamarisk Events, who produce the rink this year; Royal Museums Greenwich, who sell the timed sessions and ask you to book ahead, give 10am as the opening time, so go by the time on your booking.
On the ice
There is a 'skate-off pit lane' for a breather mid-session and a viewing area for whoever stays in their shoes. Special sessions run for toddlers, students and SEND families, and there are group and school rates.
Make a day of it
The National Maritime Museum next door is free, and the Queen's House hosts a Santa's Grotto through the season. Greenwich's own market and the Cutty Sark are a few minutes' walk.
Of London's Christmas rinks this is the one that does not feel like a funfair. It is smaller than Somerset House and far quieter than Winter Wonderland, and the view across the river is the reason to choose it. One is well advised to take the evening session: the house is lit, the towers across the water come on, and the Thames Clipper back to central London from Greenwich Pier is rather the nicer way home than the DLR.
