There are quieter ways to spend Halloween night in London, and then there is singing creepy karaoke classics with a live band and a church organ behind one. Organoke, now in its tenth year, brings its Halloween Spooktacular to St Giles' Church in Camberwell on Saturday 31 October 2026, and the whole congregation is the choir.

What happens

The crowd sings; the band and the organ do the rest. The organ is Seb, the church's own instrument of 1844, played by Ashley Valentine, and the evening is hosted by Ida Barr. The repertoire is the spooky end of the karaoke canon, sung together rather than one at a time, so nobody need be brave alone. Fancy dress is encouraged, and the profits go towards restoring the organ itself, which is as good a reason to sing loudly as any.

When and where

Saturday 31 October 2026 at Live At St Giles, St Giles' Church, Camberwell Church Street, London SE5 8RB, a Grade II* listed church. Doors open at 7pm; the karaoke begins at 8pm, there is an interval at 9.30pm with the Tombola of Dreams, and the night closes at 11pm. There is a bar and food on site.

Tickets and price

General admission is £31. A group ticket for six or more is £28 a head, ten per cent off. Both prices include the booking fees. Tickets are sold through Outsavvy, the organiser's seller, and on the day of the event the page said they were going fast, without being marked sold out, so anyone still deciding should decide promptly.

Who it is for

There is no age limit, but under-18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult; there are no children's tickets and no alcohol is served to under-18s. Parents with babes in arms are asked to email the organiser at hello@organoke.com beforehand. Dress is fancy, and the more so the better.

Elsewhere on the night

For something less vocal, Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham opens by candlelight the same evening, and the Herne Hill Velodrome, a short way south of Camberwell, has its bonfire and fireworks. The rest of the week is on the Halloween in London page.

Come as a party of six if one possibly can: the group price is the only discount there is, and a church pew sings better full. Arrive for the 7pm doors rather than the 8pm start, since the bar, the costumes and the building itself are half the evening, and a Grade II* church is worth looking at before the lights go down. A costume is not compulsory, but one will feel underdressed without it.
