- The Lord Mayor's Show
The Lord Mayor's Show is a three-mile civic procession through the Square Mile, held each November for more than eight centuries. The 698th Lord Mayor of London, Alderman Bronek Masojada, will take part when the 2026 procession leaves Mansion House at 11am on Saturday 14 November. It is free to watch, and you do not need a ticket.
The route through the City and back
The outward procession runs from Mansion House through Cheapside, past St Paul's Cathedral and along Fleet Street to the Royal Courts of Justice. It returns in the early afternoon via the Embankment and Queen Victoria Street. The Lord Mayor Elect, Alderman Bronek Masojada, takes office the day before as the City's 698th Lord Mayor.
Where to watch
For the busiest stretch, the organisers suggest watching between Bank and St Paul's as the outward procession passes from about 11am to noon. For more room, the return leg moves along the Embankment from about 1.15pm; Temple to Blackfriars is the quieter stretch. The procession takes well over an hour to pass any one point.
Getting there
Use public transport: roads through much of the City are closed, buses are diverted and parking bays are suspended. Bank and St Paul's stations are close to the outward route but get busy; Farringdon and City Thameslink are alternatives. Temple and Blackfriars work well for the return. Detailed road and bus arrangements are published nearer the day.
Free entry and access
There is no admission charge. The organisers describe the procession as accessible and publish advice for wheelchair users and anyone concerned about crowds. A printed souvenir programme with the running order costs £5 on the day; the 2026 processional order has not yet been announced.
Other things to do in the City that day
Make an afternoon of it with free entry to Guildhall Art Gallery (open 11am–5pm) or join a free guided walk from No. 1 Poultry between 3pm and 3.45pm. See the full day guide for locations, maps and the procession viewing plan.
In the evening, the EFG London Jazz Festival is in its first weekend, with Goldie at the Royal Festival Hall and Asha Puthli at the Barbican.
The outward and return journeys suit different plans. Bank and St Paul's put you in the thick of the morning procession, while Temple and Blackfriars offer more pavement and a little more breathing room for the return. Either way, pick one side of the route before the bands arrive: once the procession is moving, you cannot cross the road at street level.
